A Web browser cache stores Web pages and files (such as graphics) as you view them. cache file A file that is used to improve the performance of Windows. compressed file A file whose content has been made smaller so that the resulting data occupies less physical space on the disk. connection-based protocol A protocol that requires a connection before information packets are transmitted. connectionless protocol A protocol that sends a transmission to a destination address on a network without establishing a connection. cookie A file that some Web servers put on your disk when you view pages from those servers.
