Rebooting nodes via the Network Security console The Network Security console now provides a way to reboot Network Security software nodes easily. Rebooting includes the entire system and is rarely necessary except during installation and changes to the IP address. To reboot a software node 1 In the Network Security console, click Admin > Node > Reboot Network Security Node. 2 In Select Node, select the node that you want to reboot from the pull-down list, and then click OK. 3 Wait until the progress bar indicates that the process is complete. Note: SuperUsers can reboot Network Security software nodes; Administrators, StandardUsers, and RestrictedUsers cannot. See "User groups reference" on page 319 for more about permissions. Stopping Symantec Network Security via the command line Symantec Network Security provides a way to shut down software nodes from the command line. You must have root access to shut down software nodes from the command line.
