LAN 2. Do not connect any other cable to the LAN's jack except the LAN cable. Otherwise, malfunctions or damage may occur. 3. Do not connect any power supplying device to the LAN cable that is connected to the LAN's jack. Otherwise, malfunctions or damage may occur. 1. Turn off the power to the computer and to all external devices connected to the computer. 2. Plug one end of the cable into the LAN's jack. Press gently until you hear the latch click into place. Figure 4-13 Connecting the LAN cable 3. Plug the other end of the cable into a LAN hub connector. Check with your LAN administrator before connecting to a hub. Disconnecting LAN cable To disconnect the LAN cable, follow the steps below. CAUTION: Make sure the LAN Active indicator (yellow LED) is out before you disconnect the computer from the LAN. 1. Pinch the lever on the connector in the computer's LAN jack and pull out the connector. 2. Disconnect the cable from the LAN hub in the same manner. Check with your LAN administrator before disconnecting from the hub. 4-19 OPERATING BASICS
