Routine Maintenance Cleaning the Printer After long use paper dust and room dust may accumulate around the paper output slot and other parts of the printer. 1 Press the POWER button to switch the printer off. 2 Make sure that the POWER lamp is off, then unplug the power cord from the power outlet. Important Never unplug the power cord while the printer is turned on. This could cause a malfunction in the printer. Warning To avoid personal injury from touching live printer components, always unplug the printer before cleaning. 3 Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the area around the paper output slot. Warning To avoid personal injury from burns or electrical shock or damage to the printer during cleaning, never use a flammable solvent such as thinner, benzene or alcohol. s Cleaning the Paper Feed Rollers With frequent use of high resolution paper and other coated paper, paper dust from the coated surfaces of such media accumulates around the paper feed rollers and may cause misfeeds and paper jams. If this happens, use a special cleaning plate to clean the paper feed rollers inside the printer. For more details on how to clean the paper feed rollers, refer to the "Cleaning the Paper Feed Rollers" section in the Reference Guide. 57
