B Wireless Security This appendix lists safety precautions that you should keep in mind when setting up or using your wireless network. Security Precautions The following is a list of security precautions to take to protect your wireless network: • Change the default SSID. • Disable SSID broadcasting. • Change the default password for the Administrator account. • Change the SSID periodically. • Use the highest encryption algorithm possible. Use WPA if it is available. NOTE Using the highest encryption algorithm possible can reduce the performance of your network. • Change the WEP encryption keys periodically.
