Removing the processor WARNING: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer and follow the steps in Before working inside your computer. For more safety best practices, see the Regulatory Compliance home page at www.dell.com/regulatory_compliance. Prerequisites 1 Remove the stability foot. 2 Remove the left and right side-panels. See "Removing the side panels". 3 Remove the processor liquid-cooling assembly. Procedure WARNING: The processor might still be hot after the computer is shut down. Allow the processor to cool down before removing it. 1 In the order as indicated on the processor shield (3,2,1), loosen the captive screws that secure the processor shield to the system board. 2 Open the processor shield. 3 Press down and push the left-release lever and right-release lever away from the processor cover to release it from the securing tab. 88
