Safety guidelines While troubleshooting your server, follow these safety guidelines: ■ Never remove the top panel while your server is turned on and while the modem cable and the power cords are connected. ■ Do not attempt to open the monitor. To do so is extremely dangerous. Even if the power is disconnected, energy stored in the monitor components can be dangerous. Also, opening the monitor voids its warranty. ■ Make sure that you are grounded correctly before opening the server. For more information about preventing damage from static electricity, see "Preventing static electricity discharge" on page 37. ■ After you complete any maintenance task where you have to open the server case, make sure that you close the case and reconnect all cables before you restart your server. Warning To avoid bodily injury, do not attempt to troubleshoot your server problem if: ■ The power cord or plug is damaged ■ Liquid has been spilled into your server ■ Your server was dropped ■ The case was damaged Instead, unplug your server and contact a qualified computer technician.
