Mute To have a private, off-line conversation, use the MUTE feature. The party on the telephone line cannot hear you, but you can hear them. On the Base 1. Press the mute button on the base. The mute indicator turns on. 2. Press the mute button to cancel and return to your phone conversation. On Cordless Handset 1. Press MENU button to access the talk menu. 2. Use the  or  buttons to select 1 MUTE. 3. Press SELECT button to confirm. The handset display shows MUTE ON. 4. To cancel the mute, press MENU button and use the touch tone pad or the  or  buttons to select 1 MUTE OFF. 5. Then press SELECT button to return to your phone conversation. Ringer volume Control - Base Unit The ringer switch must be in position, either HI or LO, for the base to ring when incoming calls are received. Ringer hi/low/off Shortcut - handset Apart from the setting in the main menu, there is a shortcut to set the ringer. Make sure the phone is OFF (not in talk mode). 1. Press the ringer/hi lo off button to go to RINGER VOLUME menu. 1 HIGH 2 LOW 3 OFF shows on the display. 2. Use the touch tone pad on the handset to select 1 HIGH, 2 LOW or 3 OFF, or use the  or  buttons to scroll to your selection. 3. Press the ringer/hi lo off button to save your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone. Cordless Handset Volume Control When the handset is ON (in talk mode) you may adjust the receiver volume by pressing the ( or ) buttons. There are four volume levels to choose from. When the maximum or minimum volume level is reached, the phone beeps twice. VOL 1 is minimum and VOL 4 is maximum. 38
