13 Your first week with your new phone Finger gestures Tap Press and hold Swipe or slide Drag Flick Rotate Pinch Two-finger scrolling Press and flick When you want to type using the keyboard, select items onscreen such as application and settings icons, or press onscreen buttons, simply tap them with your finger. To open the available options for an item (for example, a contact or link in a webpage), simply press and hold the item. To swipe or slide means to quickly drag your finger vertically or horizontally across the screen. Press and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to drag. While dragging, do not release your finger until you have reached the target position. Flicking the screen is similar to swiping, except that you need to swipe your finger in light, quicker strokes, such as when flicking the contacts or message list. For most screens, you can automatically change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape by turning HTC One X sideways. When entering text, you can turn HTC One X sideways to bring up a bigger keyboard. In some apps, like Gallery or the web browser, you can "pinch" the screen using two fingers (for example, thumb and index finger) to zoom in or zoom out when viewing a picture or a webpage. In some apps that have sorting, like Mail or Contacts, you can use two fingers to scroll the screen. The screen displays the sorting order, and you can easily scroll to the information you want. On the Home screen, you can easily move a widget or icon from one screen to another. Press and hold the widget or icon with one finger, and flick the screen to the new location with another finger. Sleep mode Sleep mode saves battery power by putting HTC One X into a low power state while the display is off. It also stops accidental button presses when HTC One X is in your bag. You'll still receive messages and calls though, and missed calls and messages appear on the lock screen. To prevent missed calls or messages from appearing on the lock screen, slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Privacy. Switching to Sleep mode Briefly press the POWER button to turn off the display and switch to Sleep mode. HTC One X also automatically goes into Sleep mode when it's idle for a while.

Finger gestures
Tap
When you want to type using the keyboard, select items onscreen
such as application and settings icons, or press onscreen buttons,
simply tap them with your finger.
Press and
hold
To open the available options for an item (for example, a contact or
link in a webpage), simply press and hold the item.
Swipe or
slide
To swipe or slide means to quickly drag your finger vertically or
horizontally across the screen.
Drag
Press and hold your finger with some pressure before you start to
drag. While dragging, do not release your finger until you have
reached the target position.
Flick
Flicking the screen is similar to swiping, except that you need to swipe
your finger in light, quicker strokes, such as when flicking the contacts

Rotate
For most screens, you can automatically change the screen
