4 Register a Gen8 server for remote support This chapter describes the prerequisites and procedure for registering a Gen8 server by using the iLO web interface. Prerequisites Verify that the following prerequisites are met: • Version 1.05 or later of the iLO firmware is installed. HP recommends firmware version 1.10 or later. For more information about installing a firmware update, see the HP iLO 4 User Guide. • For iLO 1.05 firmware users only: The Remote Support feature is enabled. For instructions, see "Enabling the Remote Support feature in iLO 4" (page 31). • The iLO time zone is set. If the time zone is not set, events sent to Insight RS are displayed with a GMT offset. Log in to the iLO web interface, navigate to the Administration→Network→SNTP Settings page, and then do one of the following: ◦ Select the Use DHCP Supplied Time Settings check box to use a DHCP time server. IMPORTANT: If you use this option, verify that iLO is receiving accurate time information from the DHCP time server. ◦ Clear the Use DHCP Supplied Time Settings check box and enter the settings for your time server. For more information about setting the time zone, see the HP iLO 4 User Guide. • The RIBCL protocol credentials for the server are configured in the Insight RS Console. For more information about the RIBCL protocol credentials, see "Configuring the RIBCL protocol after registering a Gen8 server with iLO 4 for Insight RS" (page 16). • AMS is installed and the operating system is running on the Gen8 server that you want to register. • The HP ProLiant iLO 3/4 Channel Interface Driver is installed. iLO uses this driver to communicate with AMS. • Agentless Management is selected on the Administration→Management page, and values are entered in the following fields: ◦ Read Community ◦ Trap Community ◦ SNMP Alert Destination(s) For more information, see "Setting up the Gen8 server" (page 9). IMPORTANT: If the server fails to meet the firmware, RIBCL protocol, AMS, and operating system requirements, it will be listed in the Insight RS software using the serial number instead of the server name. 4 Register a Gen8 server for remote support
This chapter describes the prerequisites and procedure for registering a Gen8 server by using the
iLO web interface.
Prerequisites
Verify that the following prerequisites are met:
Version 1.05 or later of the iLO firmware is installed. HP recommends firmware version 1.10
or later.
For more information about installing a firmware update, see the
HP iLO 4 User Guide.
For iLO 1.05 firmware users only: The Remote Support feature is enabled.

The iLO time zone is set.
