3. Telephone 3.3 Storing names and telephone numbers into the phone book For rapid access to frequently dialed numbers, the base unit and handset provide the phone book (50 items each). L Items stored in the phone book can be copied between a handset and a base unit, or between 2 handsets (page 41). L If you register additional handsets (page 6), each handset has its own phone book. 3.3.1 With the handset {PAUSE}{} {v} {OFF} Make sure the handset and base unit are not being used. The handset must be operated near the base unit and while OFF the charger. 1 Press the soft key ({C}). L The display shows the number of items in the phone book. 2 Press the soft key ({ADD}). 3 Enter the name, up to 16 characters. See the following character table for details. 4 Press {v}. 5 Enter the telephone number, up to 32 digits. L To enter a pause, press the soft key ({PAUSE}). 6 Press {v}. 7 Press the soft key ({SAVE}). L To program other items, repeat steps 2 to 7. 8 Press {OFF}. To select characters with the dial keypad Keypad {1} {2} {3} {4} {5} {6} {7} {8} {9} {0} ({CLEAR}) (soft key) Characters 1 a b c ABC2 d e f DEF 3 g h i GHI 4 j k l J KL 5 mn o MN O6 p q r s P QRS 7 t u v T UV8 w x y z WX Y Z 9 0 (Space) To delete a digit. Note: L To enter another character that is located on the same dial key, press the soft key ({>}) to move the cursor to the next space. To correct a name Press the soft key ({}) to move the cursor to the incorrect character/number, and then make the correction. To delete a character/number Press the soft key ({CLEAR}). L To erase all of the characters/numbers, press and hold the soft key ({CLEAR}). L You can move the cursor to the character/number you want to delete by pressing the soft key ({}) in step 3. 38
