Settings and Adjustments Audio Settings The [Audio] setup allows you to adjust the sound according to the playback and connection conditions. Select [Audio] in the Setup Display. To use the display, see "Using the Setup Displays" (page 62). The default settings are underlined. Dolby Digital Output DTS Output MPEG Output 96kHz PCM Output Audio DRC Vocal Dolby Digital -> PCM Dolby Digital b Note This affects the output from the DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL)/HDMI OUT jacks. If the HDMI OUT jack is connected to equipment not compatible with DTS signals, select [Off]. [MPEG Output] (DVD VIDEO only) Selects the type of MPEG audio signal. [ MPEG → PCM ] [ MPEG ] Select this when the recorder is connected to an audio component without a built-in MPEG decoder. If you play MPEG audio sound tracks, the recorder outputs stereo signals. Select this when the recorder is connected to an audio component with a built-in MPEG decoder. [Dolby Digital Output] (DVDs only) Selects the type of Dolby Digital signal. [ Dolby Digital → PCM ] [ Dolby Digital ] Select this when the recorder is connected to an audio component without a built-in Dolby Digital decoder. Select this when the recorder is connected to an audio component with a built-in Dolby Digital decoder. b Note This affects the output from the DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL)/HDMI OUT jacks. If the HDMI OUT jack is connected to equipment not compatible with Dolby Digital signals, select [Dolby Digital → PCM]. [DTS Output] (DVD VIDEO only) Selects whether or not to output DTS signals. [ Off ] [ On ] Select this when the recorder is connected to an audio component without a built-in DTS decoder. Select this when the recorder is connected to an audio component with a built-in DTS decoder. b Note This affects the output from the DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL)/HDMI OUT jacks. If the HDMI OUT jack is connected to equipment not compatible with MPEG audio signals, select [MPEG → PCM]. [96kHz PCM Output] (DVD VIDEO only) Selects the sampling frequency of the audio signal. [ 96kHz → 48kHz ] [ 96kHz ] The audio signals of DVD VIDEOs are always converted to 48 kHz/16 bit. All types of signals, including 96 kHz/24 bit, are output in their original format. b Note This affects the output from the DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL)/HDMI OUT jacks. If the HDMI OUT jack is connected to equipment not compatible with 96 kHz signals, select [96kHz → 48kHz]. [Audio DRC] (Dynamic Range Control) (Dolby Digital DVDs only) Makes the sound clear when the volume is turned down when playing a DVD that conforms to [Audio DRC].
