158 Enhancing Productivity Connecting your modem to a telephone line Sample removing a PC Card Setting up a PC Card for your computer Some PC Cards are ready to use as soon as you install them. Others, such as hard disk cards, network cards, and SCSI adapters, may need to be set up to work with your computer. To set up your PC Card, refer to the documentation that came with the card or refer to your operating system manual or online help. Connecting your modem to a telephone line Your computer comes with a built-in modem that can be connected to a standard voice-grade telephone line. The modem allows you to: ❖ Access the Internet. ❖ Communicate with your office's local area network (LAN) or larger corporate wide area network (WAN). For specific information about connecting to a LAN or WAN, consult your network administrator. ❖ Send a fax directly from your computer.
