Document design Character alignment The bottom edges of adjacent E13B MICR characters within the same field are in alignment within: • ± .007 inch/0.18 mm (CPA-Canada) • ± .015 inch/0.38 mm (ISO-International) • ± .030 inch/0.76 mm (ANSI-U. S. only) Although this is a concern for impact printing, MICR characters printed on laser systems are always properly aligned. NOTE: The Amount field of the MICR line is not normally printed by the laser printer, but is added by a proof machine at the bank of first deposit. The proof machine, being an impact device, may cause alignment errors. CMC7 font The CMC7 font is an alternative MICR font that has been adopted in various countries throughout the world.
