CHAPTER 19 Remote MGMT 19.1 Overview Remote MGMT allows you to manage your ZyXEL Device from a remote location through the following interfaces: • LAN and WLAN • WAN only Note: The ZyXEL Device is managed using the web configurator. 19.1.1 What You Need to Know The following terms and concepts may help as you read this chapter TR-064 TR-064 is a LAN-Side DSL CPE Configuration protocol defined by the DSL Forum. TR-064 is built on top of UPnP. It allows the users to use a TR-064 compliant CPE management application on their computers from the LAN to discover the CPE and configure user-specific parameters, such as the username and password. SSH/SCP/SFTP Secure Shell (SSH) is a secure communication protocol that combines authentication and data encryption to provide secure encrypted communication between two hosts over an unsecured network. The following file transfer methods use SSH: • Secure Copy (SC) is a secure way of transferring files between computers. It uses port 22. • SSH File Transfer Protocol or Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) is an old way of transferring files between computers. It uses port 22. 19.2 The Remote MGMT Screen Use this screen to decide what services you may use to access which ZyXEL Device interface. Click Maintenance > Remote MGMT to open the following screen.
