Pausing And Resuming Snapshots, Restoring Data

- Click the Actions drop-down menu for that machine, click Force Snapshot, and then select one of the options described below. Text Box Description Snapshot Takes an incremental snapshot of data updated since the last snapshot was taken. Base Image Takes a complete snapshot of all data on the volumes of the machine. 2. When the notification is displayed in the Transfer Status dialog box that the snapshot has been queued, click OK. A progress bar is displayed next to the machine in the Machines tab to show the progress of the snapshot. 3. Click the machine for which you want to force a snapshot. The Summary tab for that machine is displayed. 4. On the Actions menu next to the Volumes table, click Force Snapshot. 5. Select either Incremental, for a snapshot of data updated since the last snapshot, or Base Image, for a snapshot of all data on the volume. 6. When the notification is displayed in the Force Snapshot dialog box that the snapshot has started, click OK. A progress bar is displayed in the Volumes table to show the progress of the snapshot. Pausing And Resuming Snapshots When you pause a snapshot, you temporarily stop all transfers of data from the current machine. To pause and resume snapshots: 1. In the AppAssure 5 Core Console, click the Machines tab. 2. Select the machine for which you want to pause snapshots. The Summary tab for this machine is displayed. 3. In the Actions drop-down menu for that machine, click Pause. 4. To resume snapshots, click Resume in the Actions menu. Restoring Data Using AppAssure, you can instantly recover or restore data to your physical machines (for Windows or Linux machines) or to virtual machines from stored recovery points for Windows machines. The topics in this section describe how you can export a specific recovery point for Windows machines to a virtual machine or to roll back a machine to a previous recovery point. Exporting Backup Information For Your Windows Machine To A Virtual Machine In AppAssure 5 you can export data from your Windows machines to a virtual machine (VMware, ESXi, and Hyper-V) by exporting all of the backup information from a recovery point as well as the parameters defined for the protection schedule for your machine. To export Windows backup information to a virtual machine: 1. In the AppAssure 5 Core Console, click the Machines tab. 2. In the list of protected machines, select the machine or cluster with the recovery point for which you want to export. 3. In the Actions drop-down menu for that machine, click Export, and then select the type of export you want to perform. You can choose from the following options: 110
