Assigning Subgroup Licenses If you put a zero (0) in the license pool, by default, you automatically enable the draw licenses from the parent group feature, which means that additional licenses is taken directly from a parent license. NOTE: Only users with administrative rights can assign subgroup licenses. To assign subgroup licenses: 1. On the Home page in the AppAssure 5 License Portal, select a group and then a subgroup, and then click Settings from the drop-down list. The Settings dialog box is displayed. 2. Select the Licensing tab and in the Licensing Pool area, enter the information as described below. Text Box Description License Pool Enter the number of licenses for the group. It represents the number of licenses for the group. License Pool Used Represents the number of licenses that are being used by agents. License Pool Reserved Represents the sum of license pools reserved by subgroups. License Pool Available Represents the number of available licenses that can be used for adding new agents. 3. Select the Draw license from parent option, if licenses are being allocated from the parent group. 4. Click Save. About Distributing License Pools between Subgroups As business drivers change, you can reallocate licenses between subgroups. Two things to consider when redistributing license pools are: • You cannot reduce the size of the license pool to a number that is less than the sum of the combined and allocated group and subgroup licenses. • You cannot reduce the license pool to a number that is less than the sum of the license pool for subgroups. The maximum value for the license pool for a subgroup is calculated in the same way. About Billing For Licenses Subscription licenses are paid on a monthly basis and therefore include all enabled, registered, and deactivated agents. Collectively, all agents for the billing month account for the total subscription licenses for that period. Agents that were deactivated in the previous billing month are not included in the calculation. 39
