Customizing the digital sender to support thirdparty programs Note You can customize the HP 9100C Digital Sender to support thirdparty programs being used in your office. Users then have the ability to distribute documents from the digital sender directly to these programs. Customizing for third-party support is an advanced feature of the digital sender. The interface with the third-party program is not automatic and requires special programming. Three steps are involved: 1 Using the HP Address Book Manager, you assign a name for the third-party program to a function key; this is the name that appears on the control panel for users to select. The assignments appear under Customized Function Keys in the ABM main window. Up to 11 function keys can be customized in this way. 2 Then, still in the ABM, you configure at least one destination for the customized function key. You can assign up to 512 destinations to each function key. The destinations appear in the hierarchy under Customized Function Keys in the ABM main window. Each destination you configure is independent of the others. This means that you can have different settings for each (such as destination network address and file format). 3 Prepare the third-party program to accept and use the data from the digital sender. For specific information on how to do this, see the digital sender website (http://www.digitalsender.hp.com). Once this work has been completed, users can select the third-party program they want by pressing the corresponding function key on the control panel at the digital sender. A list of the preconfigured destinations appears at the control panel and they choose the destination they want. The table on page 59 explains the items in the ABM that you configure for each function key. Steps for configuring this feature begin on page 60. 58 Chapter 2 - Installing and configuring EN

Customizing the digital sender to support third-
party programs
You can customize the HP 9100C Digital Sender to support third-
party programs being used in your office. Users then have the ability
to distribute documents from the digital sender directly to these
programs.
Note
Customizing for third-party support is an advanced feature of the digital
sender. The interface with the third-party program is not automatic and
requires special programming.
Three steps are involved:
1
Using the HP Address Book Manager, you assign a name for the
third-party program to a function key; this is the name that
appears on the control panel for users to select. The assignments
appear under
Customized Function Keys
in the ABM main
window. Up to 11 function keys can be customized in this way.
2
Then, still in the ABM, you configure at least one destination for
the customized function key. You can assign up to 512
destinations to each function key. The destinations appear in the
hierarchy under
Customized Function Keys
in the ABM main
window. Each destination you configure is independent of the
others. This means that you can have different settings for each
(such as destination network address and file format).
3
Prepare the third-party program to accept and use the data from
the digital sender. For specific information on how to do this, see
the digital sender website (http://www.digitalsender.hp.com).
Once this work has been completed, users can select the third-party
program they want by pressing the corresponding function key on the
control panel at the digital sender. A list of the preconfigured
destinations appears at the control panel and they choose the
destination they want.
The table on page 59 explains the items in the ABM that you
configure for each function key. Steps for configuring this feature
begin on page 60.
