Coexisting with the HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner Administrator matters The HP 9100C Digital Sender and the HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner coexist on the same network without conflict.  The two devices do not use the same resources.  You do not overwrite or erase anything by installing the digital sender software.  The version of the HP JetAdmin software that comes with the digital sender can manage both the digital sender and the HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner. (However, previous versions of the HP JetAdmin software do not work with the digital sender.) Client matters The client software for the HP 9100C Digital Sender and the HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner can coexist on the same computer, and in fact can interact.  HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner Documents sent to the computer from the HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner are routed using the HP ScanJet Utility. You can continue to use the PaperPort™ software for HP to manage them. All this software can work independently of the client software for the digital sender.  HP 9100C Digital Sender Documents sent to the computer from the digital sender are routed using the HP Digital Sender Link. The HP Address Book Manager is an additional software component for the digital sender. To use one program to manage all documents It is possible to use just one program on the computer to manage all scanned documents. Users can do this by specifying a program as the preferred inbox for the HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner and setting the file type to .pdf (if available) or multipage .tif (see the documentation for the HP Network ScanJet 5 scanner for information on setting these options). Documents are still routed using the HP ScanJet Utility, but they appear in the target program. The reverse is not possible. That is, you cannot use the PaperPort software with the digital sender.
