NOTE: If a firewall is in operation on the machine running HP Systems Insight Manager, make sure the HP StoreOnce Backup System(s) are within the firewall. 8. NOTE: If the discovery process fails, check that the network is working correctly and that the HP StoreOnce Backup System is online. Email Alerts (Configuration) This page is used to set up details of the email servers that will be used to route messages about the HP StoreOnce Backup System and to specify up to eight email recipients. Messages are generated if a disk fails or reaches its threshold capacity, if the system reboots, if there are network problems or if there is a critical hardware failure. The HP StorageWorks StoreOnce Backup System uses Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), which is the established standard for transferring mail over the internet. Microsoft Exchange has a virtual SMTP server available which can be used to receive these emails and forward onward if necessary. UNIX and Linux operating systems have a Sendmail program included. Sendmail uses the SMTP protocol to receive and, if necessary, forward e-mail messages. To configure email settings, the HP StoreOnce Backup System must be on the same network as an SMTP server that it can use. 56 Appliance Configuration
