2 Planning the Server Installation If planning to deploy and configure multiple servers in a single rack, consult the HP ProLiant DL320 Generation 2 Server High-Density Deployment white paper at www.hp.com Server Installation Overview The following steps give an overview of the required procedures for installing the ProLiant DL320 Generation 2 server: IMPORTANT: Before beginning the following procedures, refer to the Important Safety Information guide that shipped with the server. 1. Select an appropriate site for the server. 2. Unpack the server and rack-mounting hardware. 3. Install other options. Refer to Chapter 3, "Installing Hardware Options." Other options include additional memory, hard drives, expansion boards, and external storage devices. Install hardware options before running the System Configuration Utility. The System Configuration Utility is run during the SmartStart portion of the installation sequence. IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to change the factory settings for reserved switches. Inaccurate settings can seriously degrade system performance. 4. Set internal switches, if necessary. Server Installation Overview
The following steps give an overview of the required procedures for installing the
ProLiant DL320 Generation 2 server:

Select an appropriate site for the server.
2.
Unpack the server and rack-mounting hardware.
3.
Install other options.
Refer to Chapter 3, “Installing Hardware Options.” Other options include
