Message Possible Cause Solution FOCUS TOO CLOSE and focus brackets red The focus distance is closer than the camera can focus in the Macro shooting mode. Move farther away from the subject, within Macro range (see page 42). UNABLE TO FOCUS and focus brackets red The camera cannot find focus in the Macro shooting mode, possibly due to low contrast. • Use Focus Lock (see page 38). Point at a part of the scene that is brighter or has a high contrast edge. • Make sure the subject is within Macro range of 20 to 50 cm (8 to 20 in). LOW LIGHT UNABLE TO FOCUS and focus brackets red The scene is too dark and the camera cannot focus. • Add an external light source. • Use Focus Lock (see page 38). Point at a part of the scene that is brighter. (camera shake warning) The light is low and the image is likely to be blurry due to the long exposure required. Use the flash (see page 40), set the camera on a stable surface, or use a tripod. 134 HP Photosmart M22/M23 User's Manual
