3. To secure the cover to the chassis, tighten the retaining screw. Removing and Replacing a Disk Drive The disk drives are located in the front of the chassis. The nPartition must be shut down to remove or replace the drive that serves as the boot disk, if the boot disk is not mirrored. See "Powering Off Hardware Components and Powering On the Server" (page 84) for more information. The remainder of the internal disk drives are hot-pluggable. CAUTION: Observe all ESD safety precautions before attempting this procedure. Failure to follow ESD safety precautions can result in damage to the server. Disengage the front locking latch on the disk drive by pushing the release tab to the right and the latch lever to the left. 2.
