A.4.4 Examples of Command Line Usage This section shows how various DOS-based CU command line options are used for mirrored volumes. A.4.4.1 Creating a Custom Mirrored Volume At least two targets must be listed with the /t option. Other options can be used on the same command line as the create options, to override the defaults. Here are some examples: Example 1 - Configure a mirrored pair of disks on adapter 1 with the primary disk at SCSI ID 1, the secondary disk at SCSI ID 4, and a hot spare at SCSI ID 5. mptpsir /c1 /t1 /t4 /t5 Example 2 - Configure the IM volume the same as in Example 1, but limit the size to 1000 Mbytes and don't reboot on exit. mptpsir /c1 /t1 /t4 /t5 /sz1000 /nr Example 3 - Configure the IM volume with four disks on adapter 1 at SCSI IDs 1, 3, 4, and 5: mptpsir /rte /c1 /t1 /t3 /t4 /t5 Example 4 - Configure mirrored disks with the characteristics specified in inputfile. (The command line options in c:\inputfile must be in a contiguous block of text with no inserted carriage returns.) mptpsir /i < c:\inputfile A.4.4.2 Deleting a Mirrored Volume or a Hot Spare Example 1 - Delete the mirrored volume. mptpsir /d Example 2 - Delete the hot spare disk at SCSI ID 5 without deleting the volume. mptpsir /d /t5 A-8 Using the DOS-Based Configuration Utility Version 1.0 Copyright © 2003 by LSI Logic Corporation. A.4.4
Examples of Command Line Usage
This section shows how various DOS-based CU command line options
are used for mirrored volumes.
A.4.4.1
Creating a Custom Mirrored Volume
At least two targets must be listed with the
/t
option. Other options can
be used on the same command line as the create options, to override
the defaults. Here are some examples:
Example 1 –
Configure a mirrored pair of disks on adapter 1 with the
primary disk at SCSI ID 1, the secondary disk at SCSI ID 4, and a hot
spare at SCSI ID 5.
mptpsir /c1 /t1 /t4 /t5
Example 2 –
Configure the IM volume the same as in Example 1, but
limit the size to 1000 Mbytes and don’t reboot on exit.
mptpsir /c1 /t1 /t4 /t5 /sz1000 /nr
Example 3 –
Configure the IM volume with four disks on adapter 1 at
SCSI IDs 1, 3, 4, and 5:
mptpsir /rte /c1 /t1 /t3 /t4 /t5
Example 4 –
Configure mirrored disks with the characteristics specified
in
inputfile
. (The command line options in
c:\inputfile
must be in a
contiguous block of text with no inserted carriage returns.)
mptpsir /i < c:\inputfile
A.4.4.2
Deleting a Mirrored Volume or a Hot Spare
Example 1 –
Delete the mirrored volume.
mptpsir /d
Example 2 –
Delete the hot spare disk at SCSI ID 5 without deleting the
volume.
mptpsir /d /t5
