Page 76 highlights

A.5 Configuring an IS Volume with the DOS-Based CU There are two basic ways to create an IS volume with the DOS-based CU (Create options are explained in Section A.5.1.1, and specific command line examples are included in Section A.5.4, "Examples of Command Line Usage," page A-13): • Have the CU create the volume automatically (/a option). • Create a "custom" two- to six-disk striped volume by specifying a SCSI controller (/c option) and the SCSI target ID of each member disk (/t option for each disk). Note: The stripe size for IS volumes is fixed at 64 Kbytes. A.5.1 Command Line Options This section lists and explains all the DOS-based CU command line options that are used to create, delete, and reconfigure an IS volume. See Section A.5.4, "Examples of Command Line Usage," page A-13, for examples of how to create various IS configurations. A.5.1.1 Create Options /c - SCSI controller number. Same as boot adapter order number. You can get the order number from the MPTBIOS banner that appears during boot. The controller number (order number) appears in the HBA column. /t - SCSI target ID. Use a separate /t to specify each disk in the IS volume. /rts - Raid Type = striped. You must use the /rts option when creating an IS volume. /sz - IS logical drive size (Mbytes), up to 2097151 Mbytes /so - Volume settings override, 1 to 4 hex digits. This option applies to the current volume only. See Section A.5.1.7, "Volume Setting Definitions." A.5
Configuring an IS Volume with the DOS-Based CU
There are two basic ways to create an IS volume with the DOS-based
CU (Create options are explained in Section
A.5.1.1
, and specific
command line examples are included in
Section A.5.4, “Examples of
Command Line Usage,” page A-13
):
Have the CU create the volume automatically (
/a
option).
Create a “custom” two- to six-disk striped volume by specifying a
SCSI controller (
/c
option) and the SCSI target ID of each member
disk (
/t
option for each disk).
Note:
The stripe size for IS volumes is fixed at 64 Kbytes.
A.5.1
Command Line Options
This section lists and explains all the DOS-based CU command line
options that are used to create, delete, and reconfigure an IS volume.
See
Section A.5.4, “Examples of Command Line Usage,” page A-13
, for
examples of how to create various IS configurations.
A.5.1.1
Create Options
/c –
SCSI controller number. Same as boot adapter order number. You
can get the order number from the MPTBIOS banner that appears
during boot. The controller number (order number) appears in the
HBA column.
/t –
SCSI target ID. Use a separate
/t
to specify each disk in the IS
volume.
/rts –
Raid Type = striped. You must use the
/rts
option when creating
an IS volume.
/sz –
IS logical drive size (Mbytes), up to 2097151 Mbytes
/so –
Volume settings override, 1 to 4 hex digits. This option applies to
the current volume only. See
Section A.5.1.7, “Volume Setting
Definitions.”
