5. If it is necessary to replace the hard drive connector adapter on a hard drive, slide the adapter (1) off of the front end of the hard drive. 6. If it is necessary to replace the hard drive bracket, remove the four screws (2) of the bracket from the hard drive, and then lift the bracket straight up (3) and remove the bracket from the hard drive. Reverse this procedure to reassemble and install the hard drives. Hard drive for use in federal models NOTE: The hard drive spare kit does not include the hard drive bracket or screws. The hard drive bracket and screws are included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 906117-001 for federal models. Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the service door (see Service door on page 36). 5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see Battery on page 39). Remove the hard drive: 1. If it is necessary to replace the hard drive connector adapter on a hard drive, slide the adapter
(1)
off
of
the front end of the hard drive.
6.
If it is necessary to replace the hard drive bracket, remove the four screws
(2)
of the bracket from the
hard drive, and then lift the bracket straight up
(3)
and remove the bracket from the hard drive.
Reverse this procedure to reassemble and install the hard drives.
Hard drive for use in federal models
NOTE:
The hard drive spare kit does not include the hard drive bracket or screws. The hard drive bracket and
screws are included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 906117-001 for federal models.
Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the service door (see
Service door
on page
36
).
5.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see
Battery
on page
39
).
Remove the hard drive:
1.
Primary hard drive:
Loosen the three captive screws
(1)
that secure the hard drive to the bottom cover.
