Fans Description CPU fan (includes replacement thermal material) GPU Fan (includes replacement thermal material) (This fan is included as a blank for models with UMA graphics memory.): ● For use only with models with discrete graphics memory ● For models with UMA graphics memory Spare part number 848377-001 848378-001 848376-001 Before removing the fans, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the service door (see Service door on page 36). 5. Disconnect the battery (see Battery on page 39). Remove the fans: 1. Release the fan connection (1) on the CPU fan, and then release the two captive screws (2) securing the CPU fan to the computer. 2. Release the display cable (3) and remove it from the routing around the fan, and then remove the fan (4) from the computer. 3. Release the fan connection (1) on the GPU fan, and then release the two captive screws (2) securing the GPU fan to the computer. 68 Chapter 6 Removal and replacement procedures for authorized service provider parts
