Fingerprint reader board Description Fingerprint reader board bracket (part of the bracket kit) Fingerprint reader board Spare part number 848360-001 850116-001 Before removing the fingerprint reader board, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the service door (see Service door on page 36). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 39). 6. Remove the Smart Card reader board (see Smart Card reader board on page 65). Remove the fingerprint reader board: 1. Remove the Phillips screw (1) that secures the fingerprint reader board bracket to the computer. 2. Lift the bracket up (2) and then slide the bracket off the fingerprint reader (3). 3. Open the ZIF connector (4) on the system board to release the fingerprint reader cable. 4. Carefully lift the ribbon cable (5) to release it from adhesive securing it to the computer. 5. Release the fingerprint reader (6) from the double-sided tape and remove it from the computer. Reverse this procedure to install the fingerprint reader board. Component replacement procedures 67
