l TIFF was designed as a file structure for random-access devices. When used as a printer protocol, HP recommends the following ordering restrictions apply to allow sequential processing of the data. These include: • Offset values should be greater than the file position of the offset. For example, If an offset resides at file position A within the TIFF data, its value should be greater than A. • Within a file, all tag fields pertinent to the image should precede the image data. • The ordering of components within each sub-file should be: - Image file directory - Data values identified by directory entry offsets - Image data.
