a. Use a blunt object to press the side of the battery in the direction of the battery socket spring. The battery pops up when released. b. Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket. 9. Insert the new battery: a. Tilt the battery so that you can insert it into the socket on the side opposite the battery clip. b. Press the battery down into the socket until it clicks into place. Make sure that the battery socket holds the battery securely. 10. Install the RAID controller: a. Make sure that the lever on each side of the controller is down as far as it will go. b. Push the controller into the bay until it meets resistance (approximately 6 mm [0.25 in.] from the end of the chassis). c. While squeezing together the latch and lever, push both latches up as far as they will go. The controller will slide the rest of the way into the bay. 11. Reconnect the Ethernet cables that you removed in step 6 on page 41 to the RAID controller. 12. For a Fibre Channel RAID controller only: Install the SFP modules and the fiber-optic cables that you removed in step 8 on page 43. 13. For a storage subsystem with only one controller installed: Turn on the power-supply switches on the rear of the storage subsystem. 14. For a storage subsystem with two controllers installed: Move the I/O data back to the original controller: a. Open a Telnet session and connect to the alternate controller management port IP address. If the Telnet session is open from step 4 on page 41, go to step 14d. b. At the command prompt, enter admin. c. Enter the administrator password. d. Enter controller peer enable. e. Enter controller info. Information about the controller is displayed on the screen. If the information shows that the peer controller status is Not Ready, repeat this step until the status is Ready. f. Enter array failback. The I/O data is moved back to the original controller. 15. Wait approximately 10 minutes for the ServeRAID Manager program to come back online. 16. Open a Telnet session to the controller that has the battery replacement: a. At the command prompt, enter admin. b. Enter the administrator password. c.
