To change the write policy: 1. Start the ServeRAID Configuration program (see "Starting the ServeRAID Configuration Program" on page 77). 2. Select Advanced Functions from the Main Menu; then, press Enter. 3. Select Logical Drive Parms Management from the Advanced Functions menu; then, press Enter. 4. Select Change Write Policy from the next menu; then, press Enter. A screen similar to the following appears. IBM ServeRAID Adapter Disk Array Configuration Ver. Press the ESC key to make the change. 5. Locate the Wrt Pol field in the Logical Drive list. The write policy is shown as either write through (WT), which is the default setting, or write back (WB). 6. Select the logical drive whose write policy you want to change. Attention If you change the write policy to WB, wait at least 10 seconds after your last operation before you turn off your system. It takes that long for the system to move the data from the cache memory to the storage device. Failure to follow this practice can result in lost data. 7. Press Enter to change the write policy. (You can press Enter to toggle between WT and WB.) 8. Press Esc. The Confirm pop-up window appears. 9. Select Yes to save the changes, or select No to return the setting to its original state; then, press Enter. 10. Back up the disk-array configuration information to diskette.
