Chapter 2 - Configure Network Settings Password Parameter Descriptions (continued) Parameter Password Read-only Password Description Enter the password you need to use to log in to this IF2. This password gives you read and write access to the IF2 configuration. The password can be from 8 to 32 characters long. You must always specify a password. Default is intermec. Enter the password you need to use to log in to this IF2. This password gives the user read-only access to the IF2. This user can view the configuration and execute diagnostics but cannot perform any tasks that affect IF2 operation, such as changing configuration options or upgrading firmware. Default is readonly. The read-only password cannot be deleted. To disallow read-only access, you need to enable RADIUS authentication. For help, see "Configure Security" on page 26. Disable Access Through the Serial Port When serial port access is disabled, you also disable USB access. When you disable access, you will not be able to configure the IF2 as described in "Assign an Initial IP Address" on page 8. You must use a network application (such as a web browser, SmartSystems Console, or Device Configuration Web Service application) for all configuration. Note: USB is not supported on the IF2 with Expanded Memory Option. 32 IF2 Network Reader User Manual
