WHEELS SECTION 7 WHEELS WARNING Make sure the detent pin and locking pins of the quad-release axle are fully released BEFORE operating the wheelchair. Keep locking pins clean. 6. Flip the handle of the quad-release axle down to release the detent pin ensuring that the locking pins are fully released. 7. Repeat the above procedures until the quad-release axle locks correctly. REMOVING THE PLAY FROM THE REAR WHEELS (FIGURE 5) NOTE: The adjusting nut on the quick-release axles originally performed this function. 1. With the rear wheel and quad-release axle still mounted onto the wheelchair, make the following adjustment: Tighten the length adjusting screw until there is no in and out movement of the quad-release axle and rear wheel. To properly tighten caster journal system and guard against flutter, perform the following check: Caster Headtube A. Tip back the wheelchair to floor. Fork B. Pivot both forks and casters to top of their arc simultaneously. C. Let casters drop to bottom of arc (wheels should swing once to oneside, then immediately rest in a straight downward position). D. Adjust locknuts according to freedom of caster swing. 3. Test wheelchair for maneuverability. Caster Headtube TOP VIEW Locknut 4. Readjust locknuts if necessary, and repeat STEPS 1-3 until correct. 5. Snap dust cover into the caster headtube. FIGURE 6 - ADJUSTING FORKS 6. Repeat STEPS 1-5 for opposite side, if necessary. make the following adjustment:

Remove the dust cover from the caster
headtube±
To properly tighten caster journal
system and guard against flutter, per-
form the following check:
Tip back the wheelchair to floor±
Pivot both forks and casters to top
of their arc simultaneously±
Let casters drop to bottom of arc
(wheels should swing once to one-
side, then immediately rest in a
straight downward position)±
Adjust locknuts according to
freedom of caster swing±
Test wheelchair for maneuverability±
Readjust locknuts if necessary, and
repeat STEPS
1-3 until correct±
Snap dust cover into the caster
headtube±
Repeat STEPS 1-5 for opposite side, if necessary±
