Configure 3.7 Expert Settings These parameters should only be changed if you are an expert and definitely know the consequences the changes might have. TCP Keepalive time in s (1s - 65s; 0s=disable): (45) ARP Cache timeout in s (1s - 600s) : (600) ? 3.7.1 TCP Keepalive time in s This option allows you to change how many seconds the unit will wait during a silent connection before attempting to see if the currently connected network device is still on the network. If the unit then gets no response, it will drop that connection. 3.7.2 ARP Cache timeout in s Whenever the unit communicates with another device on the network, it will add an entry into its ARP table. The ARP Cache timeout option allows you to define how many seconds (1-600) the unit will wait before timing out this table. 3.8 Security Settings Note: You can change these settings via Telnet or serial connections only, not on the WebManager. We recommend that you set security over the dedicated network or over the serial setup. If you set parameters over the network (Telnet 9999), someone else could capture these settings. Disable SNMP (N) SNMP Community Name : Disable Telnet Setup (N) Disable TFTP Firmware Update (N) Disable Port 77FEh (N) Disable Web Server (N) Disable ECHO ports (N) Enable Enhanced Password (N) 3.8.1 Disable SNMP This setting allows you to disable the SNMP protocol on the unit for security reasons. 3.8.2 SNMP Community Name This option allows you to change the SNMP Community Name on the unit. This allows for ease of management, and possibly some security.
