If your router is the base station, it can function as the "parent" for up to four other access points. 7. Click the Apply button. Your changes are saved. Set Up a Repeater Use a wired Ethernet connection to set up the repeater unit to avoid conflicts with the wireless connection to the base station. Note: If you are using the router as the base station with a non-NETGEAR router as the repeater, you might need to change more configuration settings. In particular, you should disable the DHCP server function on the access point that is the repeater.  To configure the router as a repeater: 1. Log in to the router that will be the repeater. 2. Select BASIC > Wireless Settings and verify that the wireless settings match the base unit exactly. The wireless security option has to be set to WEP or None. 3. Select ADVANCED > Wireless Repeating Function. 4. Select the Enable Wireless Repeating Function check box. 5. Select the Wireless Repeater radio button. 6. Fill in the Repeater IP Address field. Note:
If you are using the router as the base station with a non-NETGEAR
router as the repeater, you might need to change more configuration
settings. In particular, you should disable the DHCP server function
on the access point that is the repeater.
To configure the router as a repeater:
1.
Log in to the router that will be the repeater.
2.
Select
BASIC > Wireless Settings
and
verify that the wireless settings match the base unit
exactly.
The wireless security option has to be set to
WEP
or
None
.
3.
Select
ADVANCED > Wireless Repeating Function
.
4.
Select the
Enable Wireless Repeating Function
check box.
5.
Select the
Wireless Repeater
radio button.
6.
Fill in the Repeater IP Address field.
