ReadyNAS OS 6.4 a. The initiator connects to the LUN group on the ReadyNAS. The initiator has access to the LUN group, but you cannot view the LUNs in the LUN group using Windows Explorer until you initialize and format the LUNs. For information about initializing and formatting LUNs, see Initialize and Format LUNs on page 116. Initialize and Format LUNs After you set up initiator access to the LUN group, you must initialize and format each LUN in the LUN group. For more information about setting up initiator access, see Set Up Initiator Access on page 111. The following procedure uses the Microsoft iSCSI Software Initiator, which is freely available online and is integrated in Windows 7. Note If you use an operating system other than Windows, the steps are different, but the basic tasks remain the same. To initialize and format LUNs in the LUN group: 1. Open the Windows Disk Management application. Each LUN in the LUN group displays as an unallocated disk that needs to be initialized and formatted.
