Messaging To select the languages in which you want to receive cell broadcast messages, select Language. To display new topics in the cell broadcast topics list, select Topic detection > On. Before you can use Instant messaging, you must save the settings to access the service that you want to use. The settings may be preconfigured in your device, or you may receive the settings as a configuration message from the service provider that offers the IM service. You can also enter the settings manually. Other settings Select Menu > Messaging and Options > Settings > Other. Select from the following: Save sent messages - Select whether to save sent messages in the Sent folder. Number of saved msgs. - Enter the number of sent messages to save. When the limit is reached, the oldest message is deleted. Memory in use - Select where to save your messages. You can save messages to the memory card only if a memory card is inserted. Folder view - Select if you want to see folder information on one or two lines. Instant messaging About Instant messaging Instant messaging (IM) (network service) allows you to converse with other people using instant messages and join discussion forums (IM groups) with specific topics. Various service providers maintain compatible IM servers that you can log into after you register to an IM service. Service providers may differ in their support of features. IM views In the application main view, select User ID - to view your own IM status and identity Conversations - to view a list of IM conversations, chat groups, and received invitations, and to open a chat group, conversation or invitation To view your contacts, select a contact list name. The following options are available: New conversation - Start or continue a conversation with an IM user. New IM contact - Create, edit, or view the online status of your IM contacts. Saved conversations - View a previous instant messaging session that you saved. When you open a conversation, the conversation view shows the messages that have been sent and received. To send a new message, type the message in the editing box at the bottom of the screen. 52
