183 Exploring Your Options Using PC Cards Inserting the PC Card Use caution when lifting or turning your computer. Failure to do so may result in damage to components, such as cables, attached to your computer, or to the computer itself. Before you insert a PC Card, refer to the documentation that comes with the card to see if you need to do anything before you insert it. To insert a PC Card: 1 Turn off the computer. You may also hot swap a PC Card. Stop the PC Card by clicking the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the System tray. After the Safe to Remove Hardware message appears, it is safe to remove the PC Card. 2 Align the card connectors with the PC Card slot and carefully slide the card into the slot until it locks into place. To avoid damaging the PC Card or the computer, do not force the card into the PC Card slot. Removing the PC Card 1 Stop the PC Card by clicking the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the System tray. After the Safe to Remove Hardware message appears, it is safe to remove the PC Card. 2 To remove the PC Card, press the slot's eject button once. 3 Remove the PC Card and store it properly.
