Function descriptions F1.Tune (Keyboard fine tuning) You use this function to fine-tune the pitch over the entire keyboard. This function is useful, for example, when you need to adjust tuning when playing with other instruments. 1 To access this item, enter FUNCTION mode and select main function F1. 1 2 F2.KTune (Key-by-key fine tuning) This function lets you adjust the pitch of individual keys, so that you can set up your own customized scaling system (temperament). The function also allows you to switch this customized scaling system OFF or ON at any time. 1 To access this item, enter FUNCTION mode and proceed to main function F2. 1 2 ROOM NORMAL MEDIUM BRILLIANCE REVERB EFFECT TOUCH TEMPO 2 The screen shows the current pitch (in hertz) for key A3. You can adjust the pitch (in increments of about 0.2 hertz) by pressing [-/NO] or [+/YES]. The adjustment automatically carries over to all keys on the keyboard. Values: 427.0 to 453.0 (hertz) Default: 440.0 (hertz) • Hertz: Frequency, in cycles per second; abbreviated as "Hz". The frequency of a sound wave determines its pitch, with higher frequencies producing higher pitches. NOTE You can make the same adjustment directly from the keyboard without entering [FUNCTION] mode, as follows. To raise the pitch (by about 0.2 Hz)... Hold down the two lowest white keys (A-1 and B-1) and hit any key from C3 to B3. To lower the pitch (by about 0.2 Hz)... Hold down the two lowest keys (A-1 and A -1) and hit any key from C3 to B3. To reset to standard pitch... Hold down the three lowest keys (A-1, A -1, B-1) and hit any key from C3 to B3. NOTE You can also adjust pitch in increments of about 1 Hz (without entering FUNCTION mode) as follows. To raise or lower the pitch... Hold down keys A-1 and B-1 (the two lowest white keys) or else A-1 and A -1 (the two lowest keys), and press [-/ NO] or [+/YES]. To reset to standard pitch... Hold down keys A-1 and B-1 or else A-1 and A -1 and press [-/NO] and [+/YES] at the same time. (Note that the screen will show the TUNE display when you hold down keys A-1 and either A -1 or B-1, and will then return to normal display when these keys are released.) ROOM NORMAL MEDIUM BRILLIANCE REVERB EFFECT TOUCH TEMPO 2 The screen indicates whether the function is ON or OFF. You can toggle the setting by pressing either [-/NO] or [+/YES]. You must set the function ON if you wish to adjust the tuning. Values: ON, OFF Default: OFF • The ON/OFF setting determines whether this customized tuning is used during play. Set ON to use the tuning, or OFF to use standard tuning. 3 After setting the function ON, hit the key that you want to tune. 34 ROOM NORMAL MEDIUM BRILLIANCE REVERB EFFECT TOUCH TEMPO The screen displays the name of the struck key. 4 You can now adjust the pitch for that key by pressing [-/NO] or [+/YES]. Adjustment is in 1-cent increments, and is indicated as a relative value ("0" produces standard pitch). Values: -50,...,+50 (cents) Default: 0 (standard pitch) for all keys You can repeat this procedure (3 and 4) to adjust pitch for as many keys as you like. Cent: One-hundredth of a semitone. (100 cents = 1 semitone) To reset fine tuning of all keys to "0"... 1 Press down the three lowest keys on the keyboard (A-1, A -1, and B-1) at the same time. The screen will display the following. F1.Tune (Keyboard fine tuning)
You use this function to fine-tune the pitch over

customized scaling system (temperament). The
function also allows you to switch this custom-
ized scaling system OFF or ON at any time.
