F3.Scale (Temperament selection) This function selects the tuning system, or temperament. The equal temperament now standard on presentday pianos was preceded by a series of other temperaments. These various temperaments had an important influence on music composition and instrument development in their day. Selecting one of these other temperaments allows you to experience the original sound of older musical pieces. The Clavinova lets you to select from seven different temperaments, as follows. Equal Pure Major Pure minor Pythagorean Mean Tone Werckmeister Kirnberger 1 To view or change the temperament setting, enter FUNCTION mode and proceed to main function F3. The screen displays the current temperament value and key (if applicable). 1 2 3 ROOM NORMAL MEDIUM BRILLIANCE REVERB EFFECT TOUCH TEMPO 2 To change the temperament: Be sure that the blinking cursor is located over the temperament value. (If necessary, press SONG SELECT [w] to move the cursor.) Then press [-/NO] or [+/YES] to change the setting. Values: EQ. PM. Pm. PY. ME. WE. KI. Default: EQ. (Tuning is different for each key.) To do this, press SONG SELECT [v] to move the cursor to the key-selection area, and then press [-/NO] or [+/YES] to change the setting. Values: C, D , D, E , E, F, F , G, A , A, B , B Default: C NOTE You use the SONG SELECT arrows to select the parameter you want to set (so that the parameter is marked by a blinking cursor).
