Sewing Heavyweight Fabrics 6 2 1 CONTENTS The sewing machine can sew fabrics up to 6 mm(1/4 inch) thick. If the thickness of a seam causes sewing to occur on an angle, help guide the fabric by hand and sew on the downward slope. 1 - CAUTION Do not forcefully push fabrics more than 6 mm (1/4 inch) thick through the sewing machine. This may cause the needle to break and cause injury. 2 - 3 - If the presser foot lever is in the up position, and you are sewing heavyweight or multiple layers of fabric which does not fit easily under the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever as high as possible by hand to bring the presser foot to its highest position. The fabric will now fit under the presser foot. 4 - 5 - If the presser foot is not level and the fabric does not feed at the beginning of sewing (as shown at left), place a piece of fabric, paper or cardboard of the same thickness as the fabric being sewn under the back of the presser foot. The machine can then sew normally. 6 - 1 Fabric 2 Thick paper 7 - Sewing Lightweight Fabrics 1 8 - Place thin paper under thin fabrics to make sewing easier. Sewing Heavyweight Fabrics
The sewing machine can sew fabrics up to 6 mm(1/4 inch)
thick. If the thickness of a seam causes sewing to occur on
an angle, help guide the fabric by hand and sew on the
downward slope.
CAUTION
Do not forcefully push fabrics more than 6 mm
(1/4 inch) thick through the sewing machine. This
may cause the needle to break and cause injury.
If the presser foot lever is in the up position, and you are
sewing heavyweight or multiple layers of fabric which does
not fit easily under the presser foot, raise the presser foot
lever as high as possible by hand to bring the presser foot
to its highest position. The fabric will now fit under the
presser foot.
If the presser foot is not level and the fabric does not feed
at the beginning of sewing (as shown at left), place a piece
of fabric, paper or cardboard of the same thickness as the
fabric being sewn under the back of the presser foot. The
machine can then sew normally.
