Chapter 25 Configuring System Message Logging Configuring System Message Logging Enabling and Disabling Time Stamps on Log Messages By default, log messages are not time-stamped. Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to enable time-stamping of log messages. This procedure is optional. The second command enables time stamps on log messages. Depending on the options selected, the time stamp can include the date, time in milliseconds relative to the local time-zone, and the time zone name. end Return to privileged EXEC mode. show running-config Verify your entries. copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file. To disable time stamps for both debug and log messages, use the no service timestamps global configuration command.
