Chapter 35 Troubleshooting Using IP Traceroute Executing IP Traceroute Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow this step to trace the path packets take through the network: Command traceroute ip host Purpose Trace the path packets take through the network by using IP. Note Though other protocol keywords are available with the traceroute privileged EXEC command, they are not supported in this release. This example shows how to perform a traceroute to an IP host: Switch# traceroute ip 171.9.15.10 Type escape sequence to abort. Usually, this output means that an access list is blocking traffic. Host unreachable. Network unreachable. Protocol unreachable. Source quench. Port unreachable. To terminate a trace in progress, enter the escape sequence (Ctrl-^ X by default).
