DES-3326SR Layer 3 Fast Ethernet Switch CLI Reference Manual config dvmrp Purpose Used to configure DVMRP on the switch. Syntax Description Parameters Restrictions config dvmrp [ipif /all] {metric /probe /ne i ghbo r_t i m e o ut /state [enabled/disabled] This command is used to configure DVMRP on the switch. − The name of the IP interface for which DVMRP is to be configured. all − Specifies that DVMRP is to be configured for all IP interfaces on the switch. metric − Allows the assignment of a DVMRP route cost to the above IP interface. A DVMRP route cost is a relative number that represents the real cost of using this route in the construction of a multicast delivery tree. It is similar to, but not defined as, the hope count in RIP. The default is 1. probe − DVMRP defined an extension to IGMP that allows routers to query other routers to determine if a multicast group is present on a given router subnetwork or not. This is referred to as a 'probe'. The default value is 10 seconds. neighbor_timeout − The time period for which DVMRP will hold Neighbor Router reports before issuing poison route messages. The default value is 35 seconds. state [enabled/disabled] − Allows DVMRP to be enabled or disabled. Only administrator-level users can issue this command. 282 DVMRP Commands
