CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on your computer). Removing the Optical Drive 1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin. 2. Remove the back cover (see Removing the Back Cover). 3. Disconnect the power and data cables from the connectors on the optical drive. 4. Remove the screw that secures the optical drive to the chassis. 5. Carefully slide the optical drive out of the optical-drive bay. 1 screw 2 optical drive 6. Remove the two screws that secure the optical-drive bracket to the optical drive. 7. Remove the optical-drive bracket from the optical drive. 8. Pull the optical-drive bezel to detach it from the optical drive.

Removing the Optical Drive
1.
Follow the instructions in
Before You Begin
.
2.
Remove the back cover (see
Removing the Back Cover
).
3.
Disconnect the power and data cables from the connectors on the optical drive.
4.
Remove the screw that secures the optical drive to the chassis.
5.
Carefully slide the optical drive out of the optical-drive bay.
6.
Remove the two screws that secure the optical-drive bracket to the optical drive.
7.
Remove the optical-drive bracket from the optical drive.
8.
Pull the optical-drive bezel to detach it from the optical drive.
