Installing and Cabling the System Null-Modem Cable If you are cabling a serial device such as a laptop computer to the console connector on the Integrated Administrator, be sure that you use the null-modem cable provided with the enclosure and not a straight-through cable. Use Table 3-5 to determine the specifications of this cable. Table 3-5: Cable Pinout for a Null-Modem Cable Signal Name TxD RxD RTS CTS GND DSR CD DTR TxD EM PIN 3 2 7 8 5 6 1 4 3 DB-9 PIN 2 3 8 7 5 4 4 1 & 6 2 DB-25 PIN 3 2 5 4 7 20 20 6 & 8 3 Powering Up the ProLiant BL e-Class System As soon as you connect an AC power cord to a hot-plug power supply on the rear panel, the enclosure powers up. Plug in the second power supply for redundancy. As soon as you remove a server blade blank and install a server blade into the front panel of the enclosure, the server blade powers up. Powering Down the ProLiant BL e-Class System You can power down one or more server blades or the entire enclosure. HP ProLiant BL e-Class System Setup and Installation Guide 3-23
