Deployment and Management Upgrading the Server Blade ROM Using ROMPaq Utility Use server blade ROMPaq utilities to upgrade the firmware (BIOS). To use the ROMPaq Utility: 1. Download the latest version of the system BIOS for the ProLiant BL e-Class server blade onto a diskette. The latest system BIOS is available at: www.hp.com 2. Power down the server blade. See the "Powering Down a Server Blade" section in Chapter 3, "Installing and Cabling the System." 3. Remove the server blade. See the "Removing a Server Blade" section in Chapter 3, "Installing and Cabling the System." 4. Attach the diagnostic adapter to the server blade. 5. Attach a USB diskette drive, a keyboard, a monitor, and a mouse to the diagnostic adapter. 6. Insert the diskette into the diskette drive. 7. Install the server blade and flash the ROM. See the "Installing a Server Blade" section in Chapter 3, "Installing and Cabling the System." Remote ROM Flash Using the Smart Components for Remote ROM Flash with the Remote Deployment Utility (RDU) console application, Remote ROM Flash enables Windows users to upgrade the firmware (BIOS) on a server from a remote location. To update the ROM from a remote location, download the Online Flash Utility from the HP website: www.hp.com If a power loss occurs during a firmware upgrade, redundant ROM support enables data recovery. Upgrading the Server Blade ROM Using ROMPaq Utility
Use server blade ROMPaq utilities to upgrade the firmware (BIOS).
To use the ROMPaq Utility:
1.
Download the latest version of the system BIOS for the ProLiant BL e-Class
server blade onto a diskette. The latest system BIOS is available at:
www.hp.com
2.
Power down the server blade. See the “Powering Down a Server Blade” section
in Chapter 3, “Installing and Cabling the System.”
3.
Remove the server blade. See the “Removing a Server Blade” section in
Chapter 3, “Installing and Cabling the System.”
4.
Attach the diagnostic adapter to the server blade.
5.
Attach a USB diskette drive, a keyboard, a monitor, and a mouse to the
diagnostic adapter.
6.
Insert the diskette into the diskette drive.
7.
Install the server blade and flash the ROM. See the “Installing a Server Blade”
section in Chapter 3, “Installing and Cabling the System.”

Using the Smart Components for Remote ROM Flash with the Remote Deployment

upgrade the firmware (BIOS) on a server from a remote location.
