Installing and Cabling the System Attaching the Diagnostic Adapter Attach the diagnostic adapter to the diagnostic connector on the front of the server blade in order to attach peripherals such as a keyboard, video, mouse, USB diskette drive, or USB CD-ROM drive. IMPORTANT: You can hot-add peripheral devices using the diagnostic adapter if the devices support hot-plug capability. To install the diagnostic adapter: 1. Power down the server blade. See the "Powering Down a Server Blade" section in this chapter. 2. Insert the diagnostic adapter into the diagnostic connector on the server blade (1). 3. Tighten the thumbscrews securing the diagnostic adapter in place (2). Figure 3-28: Attaching the diagnostic adapter IMPORTANT: Because PS/2 devices do not support hot-plug technology, restart the server blade after attaching the diagnostic adapter. Attaching the Diagnostic Adapter
Attach the diagnostic adapter to the diagnostic connector on the front of the server
blade in order to attach peripherals such as a keyboard, video, mouse, USB diskette
drive, or USB CD-ROM drive.
IMPORTANT:
You can hot-add peripheral devices using the diagnostic adapter if the devices
support hot-plug capability.
To install the diagnostic adapter:
1.
Power down the server blade. See the “Powering Down a Server Blade” section
in this chapter.
2.
Insert the diagnostic adapter into the diagnostic connector on the server blade (1).
3.
Tighten the thumbscrews securing the diagnostic adapter in place (2).

IMPORTANT:
Because PS/2 devices do not support hot-plug technology, restart the server
blade after attaching the diagnostic adapter. USB devices support hot-plug capability and do
not require restarting the server blade after attachment.
