Zone Administration Zoning Methods There are four methods of defining members for zoning: Mixed Zoning Port Zoning WWN Zoning AL_PA Zoning This method enables you to define members using the port area number, device WWNs, QuickLoop AL_PAs. This method is considered soft zoning. This method enables you to define members using port area number only. This method is considered hard zoning. This method enables you to define members of zone using device WWNs. This method is considered hard zoning. This method enables you to define members of zone using QuickLoop AL_PAs only. This method is considered hard zoning. For more specific information about Zoning, or for configuring Zoning using Fabric OS command line interface, see the HP StorageWorks Zoning Version 3.1.x/4.1.x User Guide. Selecting the Zoning Method The Zoning method you select determines what will be displayed in the subsequent Zone Administration windows. The Zone method you choose is displayed in the header of the Zone Administration window. An example of the View Menu is shown in Figure 48.
