Do not store the camcorder in a place subject to strong magnetism or intense vibrations. • This could cause malfunctions. z Cleaning Be sure to set the power switch to "OFF" before cleaning the camcorder. Cleaning the LCD monitor • Use dry, soft cloth to wipe dirt off. When cleaning the LCD monitor, be careful not to use force, scratch it, or subject it to impact. Doing such could cause a defect in the LCD monitor, result in display unevenness, or damage the LCD monitor. Cleaning the surface of the camcorder • Do not wipe the surface of the camcorder hard with any foreign object, such as grit adhering to the camcorder, and do not use rough fabrics to clean the surface of the camcorder. Doing so could scratch it. • Use soft cloth to gently wipe dirt off the surface of the camcorder. • If dust adheres to the viewfinder lens, remove it using a cotton swab. Do not rub the lens with force. Doing so could scratch the lens. Do not use benzene or thinner to clean the surface of the camcorder. • The coating of the case could peel off or the case could deteriorate. Wipe off dirt on the case with a soft cloth which has been completely wrung out. When using chemical cleaning cloth, follow instructions for use. z Handling HDD/Discs Using HDD/discs • Do not do the following when the ACCESS/PC indicator is lit: − shake or subject the camcorder to impacts, or open/close the LCD monitor − cut the power, or remove the battery or AC adapter − remove the recording media. As the ACCESS/PC indicator will remain lit for a while after concluding recording, please continue to observe the above precautions while the indicator is lit. • While using HDD/BD/DVD, if the power is cut accidentally while the ACCESS/PC indicator is lit or flashing, connect the AC adapter and then turn on the power again. When using a BD/DVD, turn the power back on while the BD/DVD is loaded in the camcorder. The HDD/BD/DVD will be restored. (p.132) • Use a disc which is not dirty, scratched, or warped. (BD/DVD) • A Hitachi Maxell disc is recommended. (BD/DVD) • If there is concern that the camcorder may be subjected to large vibrations or impact during transport, remove the BD/DVD and protect the camcorder using soft protective materials. • When the camcorder is subjected to an impact while a BD/DVD disc is loaded, a mark may form on the disc surface due to the impact protection function for the disc and pickup. This mark can be wiped off using a disc cleaning cloth. • Be careful when removing the disc since the metal of removal slot of camcorder, and disc itself, may be hot. 153 Additional Information
